Friends of Historic Christ Church
The Friends of Historic Christ Church, Dover, raises funds for and oversees the preservation, capital maintenance, renovations and improvements of the 1734 church building, the surrounding brick wall and all that is within it except for the modern parish house. The vision of this fund is to provide the means for individuals, foundations, government agencies and others to participate in the preservation and maintenance of Historic Christ Church, Dover, through gifts, grants and other financial support; ensure the restoration and maintenance of the gravesites and monuments of historic Delaware figures buried in the churchyard, including signers of the Declaration of Independence and Articles of Confederation; Delaware governors, senators, ambassadors and other distinguished political figures and members of Christ Church Parish; educate the greater Dover community in the significance of the property and the history that it embodies; and establish, expand and administer an endowment sufficient to meet both present and future needs for these purposes. IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution
Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) are a provision in the tax code that allows eligible individuals to transfer funds directly from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to qualified charitable organizations. This can be used to satisfy the required minimum distributions and can also be used to reduce the tax associated with this distribution. Please consider this as a way of giving to Christ Church should you qualify for this.
Christ Church Endowments
There are two endowments set up under the Name Christ Church. Christ Church Endowment Fund was established with the criteria being the interest accrued under this endowment be used as directed by the Vestry after the principal amount of the fund reaches $50,000.00. The Christ Church Unrestricted Endowment Fund is unrestricted and will be used based on need as determined by the Vestry.
